Has progress at Wolves been acceptable so far?

Before I proceed with my very personal take on 'Progress Under Stale Solbakken' I would like to stress I am not from the 'We shouldn't have sacked Mick McCarthy brigade.'

Next I am aware of the usual 'we lost our best 2 players anyway in the Summer' line of lame justification for our current poor form - but and this a big bloody but, we now only face CC teams not Premier League quality outfits.

Plus we have added Sako, Sigurdarson, Doumbia, plus others like Boukari, Pezsco, and George M, when fit. Plus we have the benefit of a 'highly regarded' Norwegian coach!! Plus we have the nucleus of our Premier League experienced team!!! [Yes I know many of them seem to have suddenly all lost their way at the same time - but is anyone asking why this has happened or can it possibly be because they have been asked far too quickly to adapt to a totally different style of football???]

So all in all there is no doubt whatsoever that with our present resources we should be doing a lot, lot, better than we are at present.

I am not saying we should be in top spot but I am saying we should not be down in 16th place with every chance of dropping yet further.

If Stale cannot address our worrying slump, then we will drop very near the bottom of the table before 3 or 4 more games. Until the sinking ship is immediately made safe then I really dont want to hear any more rubbish about technical football!

Now we are about to face two winnable home games against Forest and Millwall followed by an away game against hapless Bristol City.

After an abject last 7 games Stale has to ensure we come away with at least 6 points, surely???

Maybe Stales lack of experience when it comes to understanding how to manage an English CC club has become a factor in our current malaise??

Still no great worry there because he always wisely stated he would secure the services of an experienced British coach as his number 2 - oh damn and blast!!

I just remember he decided after all we would be better served by instead appointing a bloody German!

Fortunately it is quite clear that Stale knows exactly what he is doing - right??? I mean so many of you have voiced he is exactly the right man for the job. True?? PHEW - you almost had me worried there!

Astraltrader we are still work in progress were i disagree is you say we have a nucleus of a PL team. Their lies the problem we never ever had a PL teamwe had three four or pushing the boat out five players good enough for the PL.Three of them have left and two others are injured my bigest disappointment is we have not done anything with the defence which was are biggest problem.

Effectively we have the nuclues of our 2008 Championship team, an bu nuclues I mean only a couple slots ARENT from that squad. So if you take all the earnings from 3 years in the prem and the sale of our best players plus the parachute payment, my BIG BIG problem with WWFC right now is WE HAVE SPENT NOTHING, and are left with the folk no one else wanted. I've been backing Stale, and still do so, but the number of puzzling decisions is starting to tot up .. I've mentioned these ad infinitum, but they are there none the less. If, as some suspect, in January, we do not make bold moves in the transfer - especially in the defence dpt, and a striker - AND we fail to lure a fit Frimpong back, Im afraid I will be inclined to question the direction of this club, regardless of whether it is Stale's, moxeys., or morgans decision. We cant expect quick fix, but spending nowt (when we have tens of millions spare) and floundering near the foot of the table is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Remember our visit to St Andrews in the cup last season, and then the debacle that followed at Molineux? It stikes me that the names have changed but not ethos behind closed doors. So, over summer we sell 3 good players, this is to be expected due to relegation, but it now appears we visit poundland in Europe to find suitable replacements. Sako appears to be the only good buy, but how many games can we win from the set piece. Ultimately, we should be investing in the team, players with a will to win, not has been's or unknowns. Come on Mr Morgan, get your wallet out and lets see the colour of your money, afterall, you have seen the colour of mine when I purchased 2 season tickets this summer!

While I do agree with the need for us to buy new players in the January window I personally cannot see this happening to any great extent until we manage to unload some players first. The fact is that at present we have by far the largest squad of players in the Championship. I can already imagine our Jez furiously typing out the "We will need to sell/move on players before we can...." type of statements. Add that to the well know fact that the Jan window is not a good time to buy players then I believe that we will have to wait until next summer before we can start to create the sort of team needed to play Stale's so called technical football.

Looking at Ståle's track record, this is kind of how his first year always goes. Even for his first two years at Copenhagen, fans didn't like the style of play and wanted him fired. I think we all know how that turned out. Give Ståle time. When he says he's bringing a long term project, he means over years, not months. I know many of us think that we should be a Prem club by default, but that's simply not how it works right now and I firmly believe that Ståle can pull us into the category of solid mid-table Prem side, if not a bit better (given proper funding). Also, I'm not from Great Britain, so I can't pretend to understand this mindset, but I find the idea that somehow a non-British manager can't understand how to manage a Championship club more than a little off-putting.

I wasnt happy today. First half it looked like we had found what our current level was. we seemed perfectly equal to forest, which isnt as ambitious as I would hope. Then first half we were so so poor. It was painful to watch!

Sure, Stale needs time, but we have some glaring issues that remain unresolved. Like why we're extending contracts of carp defenders, why a club with our resources is down to bare bones... and I went into a quiet rage when I heard that "unfit" Frimpong started for Charlton today, Gedioura Screamer to win it for Forest ... perhaps these decisions aren't down to Stale (though some definitely are), but something stinks at this club, and i am sure Morgan is rinsing this club for all its worth. Don't be surprised to see Sako sold for a good bit of businesss … The scows is not building a squad, he is asset stripping. What a sorry joke.

Alan from the USA - I cant see at all why you find it so difficult to accept that in order to successfully manage an English club it is important to have experience of English football?? It is totally logical from where I stand.

Whether our players were good enough for the Premier League is not important anymore, we are not a Premier League club. The squad that we have should be good enough for this level and Solbakken has been able to bring in over £6m of his own players plus some players on loan from the top flight in France. The vast majority of clubs in the Championship have spent nowhere near that sum of money. McCarthy in his first transfer window spend less than half a million and did better than this guy is doing. And some are still saying we shouldn't start to judge Stale until he has spent even more in January. The football is dire to watch and there has been no improvement of any sort so far this season. And Stale is certainly not getting the best out of the players he has. And this modern passing game is only something that gets talked about in press conferences, it is not evident on the field. It is early days, and I am not calling for his head or saying lets give up on him - but what has he done to improve the club so far? Absolutely nothing

Canaries are apparently in for Griffiths ... he's not good enough for our 18th placed Championship, but good enough for mid-table Premiership club. Solbakkens blunder list gets ever longer.

Ive seen Griffiths , He's bang average , if you lot rate him for scoring 15-20 in the scottish prem what the hell does that prove , Christophe Berra was a stand out defender in that league , thats all you need to know about the jock league !
