Berra to hold talks in New Year

Christophe Berra could be set to hold talks over a new contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers gaffer Ståle Solbakken in the New Year.

The 27-year-old Scotland international is currently Transfer-listed as his current deal at Molineux is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Berra had looked odds on to leave Wolves this season, but apparently 'tentative talks' have been held between the club and the player, although Berra would prefer to concentrate on his football over the busy festive period, but has not ruled out discussing a new deal once the New Year is upon us.

"Come the new year we might talk about the contract, I`ve improved under the new gaffer - I`ve maybe taken on more responsibility to do the things he wants because he wants us to pass it more.' he told the Express & Star.

He continued: "We`ve only been beaten once at home, but maybe we`ve had too many draws, Now we`ve got two home games in a row; Forest have spent a bit of money so that`s going to be difficult.

"But if we keep doing the things the gaffer wants, we should be OK. We want to get into those play-off spots - if we even win two games in a row, we can get up there."

Meanwhile, Wolves winger Zeli Ismail has joined MK Dons on a youth loan until January 2. The 18-year-old is hoping to pick up some football league experience under MK Dons manager Karl Robinson who has his side currently sitting third in the League One table.

Here here Admant the guy is useless thats why no one would buy him but were going to give hm a new contract i wonder if SS watched them videos of are defence.

Nope, he watched the box set of Grays Anatomy. He has allowed all our talented players to go and we are left with only the dross no one else wanted. The transition to a "new style of play" means nothing if you are trying to teach donkeys. Some are touting the January for re-enforcements, but why are cheap-wastes-of-time getting offered new contracts if Stale plans to bring players in.... no they can all get fecked. I've said it elsewhere, this is so blatantly an asset stripping mission. Difficult to give a toss right now.

Berra is no star but he has been our best defender for the last two seasons. I would keep him ahead of every other defender at the club but sadly he will go in January and make us even weaker
