Mick McCarthy Ready For Test

Sundays Championship encounter between Wolves and Leeds takes Mick McCarthy back to his roots.

And Mick's association with the area goes a little deeper than mere birthplace. Having plpayed for Barnsley, and served under some of Leeds most famous sons, the trip back home is sure to have eth memories flooding back.

'I was very lucky to have Clarkey and Norman Hunter as managers and coaches during my playing career, which is a great position to be in when they have been your sporting heroes.' he told the club's official site.

But quick to pour water on any questions regarding mixed feelings he added

'But, that was all a long time ago. Once you start playing and managing then you lose allegiances.'

There is a wealth of history between Wolves and United, mixed, on both sides, and the tie is always a hard fought encounter.

And McCarthy is going into the match under no illusions regarding the scale of the task his men face.

It's the biggest test so far for his new look Wolves, currently sitting 5th in the league, ahead of Leeds.

'No disrespect to anyone that we've played so far, and make no mistake we've had some tough games, but this one is going to test us that little bit more. ' he said

'When you think of the resources Leeds have had, and having got to the play-offs last year, going up to Elland Road is not easy.'

'Leeds will be fired up on Sunday but then again so will we. We finished on a high with a win against Luton so there's no reason why we shouldn't there with a lot of confidence.'
