'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Anything can happen says Solbakken

It's amazing just how far confidence can get you.

Before the victory over Bristol City we couldn't buy a win, we had one win in eleven games and had taken just 6 points from a possible 33.

We had fallen like a stone through the Championship table, from 3rd at the end of September, to 18th just two months later.

Then we came up against Bristol City who had themselves only won once in 13 games, also only taking 6 points during that spell.

It was a game between two very out of form sides lacking in confidence.

It's strange then that the 4-1 victory for Wolverhampton Wanderers spurred both sides on to wins at the weekend, us beating Birmingham and them beating Sheffield Wednesday.

Results which lifted them out of the relegation zone and us up to 16th.

If Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken was to take a glance at the Championship table he'd see a heavily congested Championship mid-table.

Back-to-back victories for Wolves have put us within five points of the play-offs despite our lowly position.

But that said, we got a bit ahead of ourselves once before so perhaps this time everyone will take the gaffers advice of walking before we run.

"I think we need to concentrate on our own performances and not look so much at the table, We have had back-to-back wins but we have two difficult away games to come against Middlesbrough and Blackpool.' he told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: "I think it`s better to focus on those games instead of looking at the table.

"For a whole I think we should concentrate on our performances because the table is still not good reading.

"If we can get anything out of those two away games because we have the home games over Christmas then that will be good.

"But in this division I don`t talk about the opposition or whether you are home or away any more - anything can happen!"

Buy Frimpong. We need to start recruiting premiership quality players ...Right now we have 5 or 6, Stale's gonna need more than that to really see his methods bear fruit.

If he is fit he would be a great signing but would he come to us full time and would we pay his wages, I hope he comes but I doubt he will but I hope I am wrong January will tell but I still think we need a striker and left back

... and we have to nudge him in the right direction by improving our league position by the time that the January window opens. This Saturday's game against Middlesbrough will indicate whether we have turned the corner or not.
