After less than eight months in the Molineux hot seat Ståle Solbakken has been sacked following an embarrassing FA Cup defeat to non-league Luton Town.
Luton Town might not be your stereotypical non-league side, only adrift of the Football League following years of financial problems, but nevertheless they're still a Blue Square Premier Bet outfit and they still defeated a Championship side that didn't boast as many changes as many squads at this stage of the FA Cup.
It's probably fair to say that not many will remember Ståle Solbakken, he was an odd selection by the Wolves board, certainly a gamble and not one that ever really showed signs of working.
He made a few decent signings, but our Championship form was terrible and when player are still talking about the Premier League relegation hangover in January you know something is deeply wrong in the sides mindset.
But I still wasn't really expected an FA Cup shock. Perhaps I was being disrespectful to both Luton and the FA Cup when thinking that. Every year there's a big shock and this year we were it.
Internet reports suggest that Solbakken was given the news via a text message. Also following him out of the door is Assistant Manager Johan Lange and First Team Coach Patrick Weiser.
Head of Football Development & Recruitment Kevin Thelwell has been put in temporary charge alongside Development Coach Steve Weaver.
A statement on Wolves Official Website read: The Club would like to offer their thanks and best wishes to Ståle, Johan and Patrick.
Wolves will be making no further comment to the media at this current time.
Vital Wolves Comment: The media had already linked Gordan Strachan and Sean O'Driscoll to the job even before Solbakken was given the elbow.
However BBC 5 live's Midlands reporter Pat Murphy has linked Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders with the job, although Doncaster have denied that they have received an approach from us.
