It's official, it's Dean Saunders

Dean Saunders has been confirmed as the new manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Following Ståle Solbakken's sacking after the embarrassing FA Cup defeat to Conference side Luton, many Wolves fans might have feared the worst.

It might have been obvious that things were not working out with Solbakken, but following the debacle that followed Mick McCarthy's dismissal last year with the events which unfolded, leading to a prolonged period of the club in limbo, we didn't want the same thing to happen again!

Thankfully this year it hasn't done. As Wolves made a quick approach for Doncaster Rovers manager Dean Saunders and quickly wrapped up a compensation package with the League One club and agreed personal terms with Saunders.

A brief statement on Wolves Official Website this morning read: 'Compensation has been agreed with Doncaster Rovers to allow the 48-year-old to take over at Molineux following Saturday`s departure of Ståle Solbakken.

'Saunders, who has completed the UEFA Pro Licence, has guided Rovers to second place in League One this season having started his managerial career with Wrexham.

'He has also worked in the top flight as a first team coach at Blackburn and strikers coach at Newcastle, as well as being assistant manager of Wales for three years.'

He will speak to the media for the first time since his appointment later today.

If you are looking for a reason to love Dean, then search "Dean Saunders throws the ball against the keeper"

The fact that when asked..Dave Edwards says it was the right time for SS to go speaks volumes for the players feelings towards him. We pay good money to be entertained.....they get paid a fortune to go on a go slow......disrespectful not only to the manager but more importantly to the fans.....*****ers!!!!!

I dont know enough to have an opinion on Saunders, he might find his level in Championship ... but sadly, we already had the Champs maestro in Mick Mccarthy. Can this guy really get us to the prem, and if so, how the heck is he going to keep us there ... Seems like we are going to go round and round and round for some time... How can we hope to move forward when any guy who comes in who tries anything new, the players gang up on him ... Good ol Harry came in to QPR and effectively stated in one of his 1st press release "I know who wants to play for us and I know who I will replace" ... we need someone with balls like that ... ship them out, ship them all out if need be... the manager needs to be boss, not some talentless overpayed prats who want to do as little work as possible for the biggest payoff. I saw Matt Murray on the box this morning saying how he was "sure that the players had been fully behind Stale... but..." Maybe it's because Matt is obviously as bright as a black hole that he can utter that without a hint of irony. It's another thing entirely to expect us to believe it and is quite insulting.

sodding hell admant I actually agree with you for a change! my problem is three things? 1. Apparently Saunders is a personal friend of Morgans? 2. He is also his golfing buddy and 3. Stale was recommended to Morgan by Jan Molby whilst having a drink in the old liverpool players lounge(apperently it was on 5 live), the fact that the club "acted" so fast makes me wonder if this wasn't in the pipeline for some time?

You won`t find a more committed and enthusiastic manager than Deano, if your players have got it in them Deano will bring it out. Only down side for you is he must be earmarked as Welsh manager sooner or later ! Donny Rovers Till I Die.

Welcome to the 'The Colonel' and risking the wrath of Banksy I think wer'e fairly safe that he will not give in to 'huge temptation' of managing Wales.
