McCarthy snaps up Nouble

Frank Nouble only made the move to Wolves from West Ham in the summer.

Ståle Solbakken moved quickly to make him his second signing of the summer after he was released by West Ham following the end of his contract.

After passing a medical he signed a two year deal with the club and everyone at the club seemed to think that the 20-year-old would prove to be a good prospect over the years to come.

But after less than six months and only five appearances (just one Capital One Cup start), he has now left Molineux on a permanent basis, joining Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor at Ipswich Town.

He signs an 18 month contract and could form a new look strike partnership at Portman Road alongside David McGoldrick who has been in excellent scoring form for Coventry City this season.

I guess the general sentiment is "1 down 14 to go...". I was glad to read that Griffiths is back in training at Wolves ... Can I ask what is so abhorrent about the idea of trying him out at this level ? All we currently have is a despondent Doyle, lethargic SEB and still-finding-his-feet Siggy ... Try him for a month, if he doesnt cut it, or wants to return up North, then so be it, but at least give the guy a go.

PS. Did anyone else wet themselves with laughter at karl henry issuing a "rally call" to the players to get behind DS ... I'd rather see him and 7 or 8 other first teamers rallying around a dustbin for warmth.
AdMant
lol admant. There are quite a few that dont rate henry as too good a player, but certainly under all the recent managers he has been an integeral part of the team. It will be interesting to see what Deano thinks... will he keep henrty as captain??

Trivia Question: Have we ever played Villa in this division?
winstonsmith84
If Griffiths does get a chance to impress the new manager, he should donate a part of his wages to AdMant and me.
Southbank60
Trivia answer: I don't think we have. Looks very possible next season, though. I remember a few visits from Villa fans on here last season, enjoying our demise. What goes around... as they say. They do offer an example that 'giving the kids a go' doesn't necessarily work.

A bit concerned at WHAT Saunders has said that were not looking for any defenders or midfielders as we have plenty just looking for a striker i take hes never seen the defence play if he had he would not make such stupid statements.

He'll soon realise
Rustmonkey
Maybe he can explain why, with 50 players on the books, we are still playing a not-very-good forward at left-back. Not the brightest idea to tell us we don't need defenders.
winstonsmith84
Worryingly too, I've just read that he's given everyone a "blank slate" ... how many *****king times do we need to try the WARD : BERRA : JOHNSON : FLOLEY combination to realise it DOESNT WORK ... my head spins sometimes with this club it really does ...
AdMant
Well, yes, AdMant but as long as he actually views the DVDs and sees the players in action he will come to the right conclusion. To take the example of Griffiths, a player we both rate: had SS taken a proper look at him, that is, assessed him on his footballing ability, without listening to TC's condemnation of him as 'sparky', we might have scored a few more goals before Christmas.
Southbank60
Rumour has it it's Jason Scotland to the rescue, rather than Griffiths.
