'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Johnson must prove himself to the fans

It's fair to say that Roger Johnson doesn't have the greatest of relationships with the fans at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The spats have been well documented and it's hard to remember a more disliked player at Molineux. Certainly in recent times!

But while Wolves fans don't often receive good press and have rightly been criticised in the past for their behaviour at times, most notably the incident with Jamie O'Hara, Johnson certainly doesn't help at times and almost plays up to the jeers like a pantomime villain.

Last weekend he was cupping his hands to his ears following the win over Bristol City, a match that could prove to be vital in our battle for survival and Johnson appeared more interested in point scoring with the fans rather than point scoring in the Championship.

But gaffer Dean Saunders has had enough and wants Johnson to prove himself on the pitch.

'When you play for a big club, you have to take criticism, and that`s the price on the ticket.' Saunders told the Express & Star.

He continued: "The only thing you can do is perform on the pitch and get the right results, and if you do that, the supporters will love you.

"That`s the way it`s got to be. You shouldn`t be going down any other route, apart from going on the pitch and showing the supporters what you`re made of."

'I have already spoken to Roger about it. I have said to him 'you have got to prove it on the pitch` because we have got to get results."

Who cares what relationship he has with the fans as long as he continues to do a good job for us. If we can avoid relegation then the fans will feel better towards the players.

Can you really blame him? he was cupping his hands to the South Bank, this is the problem at the Wolves the "South Bank" they and they alone turn on the players, who was it the other week booing the 5 minutes extra time! time in which we scored! who was it that cheered Hunty off! who was it that bood him on! who was it that was chanting nasty, vicious comments towards our owner - it doesn't matter wether you like or hate Morgan - no owner who is with his children and family should have to listen to this garbage! would any of those fans like it if they were abused whilst with their wife and kids? The children in the Steve Bull lower at the Bristol match showed the SB how to behave and more importantly "support" your team. I do not blame any player for having a go back at fans who constantly abuse them! they are not helping! they are NOT the club! what is it they say "no player is bigger than the club", WELL THAT GOES FOR THE FANS AS WELL.
