Transfer scramble begins for Murphy

Transfer scramble begins for Murphy

As previously predicted a 'transfer scramble' has begun over Crewe for midfielder Luke Murphy.

Last week Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly had a bid accepted by Crewe for the midfielder, with Sky Sports believing that the 23-year-old who had also been receiving interest from the likes of Swansea, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Blackburn would become a hot transfer target this summer.

With Crewe accepting a transfer bid they reported that it could create a 'transfer scramble' for his signature and that appears to be the case.

The midfielder who is a product of Crewe's academy, a well respected youth set-up has made 186 appearances for the club and could well be ready to make a move to a bigger club.

Wolves were always going to struggle to convince him to remain in League One if other clubs came knocking and over the weekend that is what happened with both Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers making £1million bids.

The Yorkshire Evening Post believes Leeds are close to completing the signing, which would prove a blow to Kenny Jackett's plans at Molineux.
