Wolves are a work in progress

Wolves are a work in progress

While I might have slammed the result against Walsall, Wolverhampton Wanderers are very much still a work in progress.

There is no denying that and there is no quick fix when things have been so rotten for so long.

Back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and the Championship and dropping into the third tier of English football is not an easy thing to deal with on or off the pitch.

Throw in a new manager, or head coach and all these new ingredients do take time to develop.

That said Kenny Jackett has managed to do all of this and still get the results. The performances might not have been pretty and some would argue even deserved, but six wins from eight games and 19 points is a good start to the season nonetheless.

"This was an excellent result (against Shrewsbury) but we do think we are a work in progress - we don`t think we are the finished article by any means and we`re humble enough to know that we need to continue to improve," said Jackett to the Birmingham Mail.

He continued: "Every side will be saying that at this stage of the season, but I`m pleased after Tuesday to get that win, which will encourage our players.

"We are pleased with where we are and pleased that we are not letting the teams at the top get away from us, but we also think we need to improve and are looking to improve, both internally and externally, as the season goes on."

I think we are going to improve but it is going to take some time. Thus, I feel that we need to bring in one or two experienced loanees, especially in midfield, to tide us over the intervening period. For several games now we have struggled because we have failed to control the midfield and we have to do something about it immediately. If we don't, we could fail to gain promotion this year. Sure, we will eventually achieve that aim but it will be some time down the line. Fine, if that's what we want. I'm not going to change my allegiance but I would like to think that the club had ambition.

I agree....we do look a little lightweight in Midfield. I thought Davis would be the man but his current form says not which leaves Macca struggling to hold it together.
