Ikeme to return to training next week

Carl Ikeme, Wolverhampton Wanderers clear number one should return to full training next week.

The shotstopper broke a bone in his left hand and hasn't featured for Wolves since New Year`s Day.

That injury opened up the opportunity firstly for Wayne Hennessey, who then subsequently refused to pay with a proposed move to Crystal Palace in the offing.

So opportunity fell to 21-year-old Aaron McCarey who was recalled from his loan spell with York City.

Thus far McCarey has made five appearances and has appeared to prove himself as a good solid young deputy, but that doesn't mean that Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett isn't looking forward to throwing his first choice Keeper back into the firing line.

"Carl is outside doing some training and will begin full training on Monday, He`s on schedule. He`s doing handling work with the goalkeeping coach (Pat Mountain) and it will be a big boost to have him back.' Jackett told the Express & Star.

He continued: "He`s been a key player for us and he`ll be a welcome addition.

"It`s been a good department for us so far this season with both Aaron and Carl doing very well."

Ikeme should have to wait for his chance, why should Aaron be dropped when he is playing well. In the past we fans have moaned about players walking straight back into the team after injury.
