'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wolves defence has been phenomenal

Scott Golbourne has praised his defensive partners for all their effort during Wolves record breaking run.

As Wolves set a new club record of nine consecutive victories, the spotlight is always stolen by the headline grabbers who score the winning goals.

But during this run, it has been Wolverhampton Wanderers impeccable defensive record that has been the foundation of the run.

Nine games, seven clean sheets, just two goals conceded in 810 minutes of football.

"The boys I play alongside at the back are phenomenal,"

"There is such a desire to keep clean sheets and defend and we all take a lot of pride in that. said Golbourne to the Birmingham Mail.

He continued: "The gaffer keeps reminding us that clean sheets will win you championships just as much as scoring a good goal or playing good football."

"It`s nice to have gone on a record run but it`s what`s needed at the moment with the pace at the top of the league which is frightening,

"Everyone is winning games and for us it`s a case of doing what is needed."

Wolves run has put us top of the League One table, but remarkably just two points clear of Leyton Orient and three points clear of Brentford.

That despite Wolves holding the best away record in the league, the second best home record and the best defence in the division.
