Following Hull City's interest in Sheffield United central defender Harry Maguire, Wolves have taken an unorthodox way of trying to persuade him to come to Molinuex.
Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hull City have followed up their interest in Harry Maguire with a £1.5million bids.
Wolves had seen two approaches knocked back by the League One club, with the 21-year-old still having 12 months remaining on his current contract.
Talks had been ongoing between Wolves and Sheffield United for sometime, but it was thought that Wolverhampton Wanderers could be forced to concede defeat in the chase to sign Maguire following rumours linking Sheffield United's Player of the Year with a move to the Premier League.
With Hull offering Premier League and European football next season along with probably an inflated wage packet, Wolves would not be able to compete financially.
However the Wolves captain believes that Wolves would be the better option for Maguire and has gone public with his reasoning.
"He will have more of a chance of playing every week here whereas if he went to Hull, he might get the odd Europa League game and that could potentially stunt his growth as a player," said Ricketts to the Express & Star.
He continued: "If he came to Wolves, he could grow as a player and establish himself as part of a successful team.
"But if you`re not developing as a player, is it really worth going there?
"That will be down to him and if he goes there, it`s a case of does he want to push his own career or take a gamble?
