Maguire remains in limbo
If you thought things had gone quiet in regards to Sheffield United central defender Harry Maguire that's because they have.
If you've been away on holiday, here is a quick recap.
Wolverhampton Wanderers placed a bid of around £1.5million for the 21-year-old.
Wolves and Sheffield United held talks regarding a possible move, only for Premier League side Hull City to also make a bid.
Their best reported bid could eventually be worth around £2million, but had around the same figure as Wolves bid as an upfront payment.
With Hull offering Premier League and European football next season along with probably an inflated wage packet, Wolves would not be able to compete financially.
However with less chances of first team football on the cards at Hull, Sheffield United are unlikely to be swayed to accept a bid which includes £500,000 worth of add-ons which are unlikely to be triggered any time soon if they are appearance related.
So with that neither bid appeared to be accepted.
Which leaves Maguire in limbo.
"We`ve not received anything," Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough told Sheffield Telegraph.
Sheffield United have in fact offered Maguire significantly improved terms as part of a new contract extension, however discussions will not continue until after the transfer window has closed in over a months time.
