Wolves deny Aston Villa approach

Over the weekend Aston Villa were linked with a 5million move for Wolves defender Danny Batth.

The 23-year-old centre-back, who has come through the Wolves academy, to star in our League One promotion winning campaign signed a three-and-a-half-year contract in January.

He made 50 appearances last season, has become a fan favourite and has been named as vice-captain.

If he were to leave Molineux, especially this close to the start of the new Championship season it would be a heavy blow for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

So it's just as well it sounds like we are prepared to rebuff any approach if it does come.

"I saw the story but we`ve had no approach from Villa," said head of football operations Kevin Thelwell to the Express & Star.

He continued: "We want him to help us get into the Premier League, rather than him helping someone else in there.

"We`ve had no one contacting us about Danny Batth, and neither would we welcome anyone contacting us about him because he epitomises everything we want about the football club going forwards.

Why are you persisting with this story? It has been well documented that DB is NOT for sale and yet the media hacks keep writing about it, the only outcome will be an unsettled player just like happened with Sako. Maybe that's the answer - a conspiracy by the media on the file's request to get the move. My message to the media hacks is: BACK OFF!

I've hardly persisted with the story johnwolf, it's the first time we've covered it and if there aren't any further rumours or comments it will be the last!
