Porto's Neves Set For Club Record Wolves Deal

Porto's Neves Set For Club Record Wolves Deal

Wolves a poised to break the transfer record for a third time under Fosun, most recently to secure Helder Costa from Benfica, when Porto midfielder Ruben Neves arrives at Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo is certainly confident of Wolves' ability to sign Neves and what he'll add to the squad.

He told BBC Midlands Today: 'Ruben is a very good player who can bring new things to our squad.'

Of course, they have previous as Neves, who became the youngest ever Champions League captain when he wore the armband at 18 in 2015, played under Nuno at Porto.

'I know him well, I worked with him last year. When a player who is 18-years-old is captain of a big team like Porto, in the Champions League, it says a lot.'

Neves, 20, has been capped by Portugal at senior level and was part of the Portuguese U21 squad that competed in the European Championships in Poland this summer.

According to the Guardian, the midfielder will set Wolves back £15.8m, exceeding the £13m paid for Costa.

It was claimed personal terms have already been agreed with Neves, unsurprisingly a client of agent Jorge Mendes, who, as we know, has 'close ties' with Wolves' owners.

The same Guardian reports said another player will come in from Porto too as French central defender Willy Boly will join Wolves on a season-long loan that will come with an option to buy.

Wolves head off for a pre-season training camp in Austria on Monday - it is expected the Portuguese international club record signing will arrive in time to be a part of this.
