Instant Reactions - Wolves v Swansea (6/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Swansea City, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers hosted Swansea City at the Molineux on Saturday January 6, with both sides playing out a reasonable entertaining scoreless draw.

The game wasn't without its talking points despite the lack of goals, even though the hosts had the greater chances, as both sides were reduced to ten men by the full time whistle.

Ruben Vinagre was sent off in the 40th minute for a bad lunge on Nathan Dyer, and then Leroy Fer saw a straight red for a trip on Helder Costa in the 67th minute. The second red card of the day was certainly harsh though.

Norris, Bennett, Coady, Hause, Doherty, Gibbs-White (Douglas 45+1), N'Diaye, Vinagre, Costa, Bonatini (Mir Vicente 77), Enobakhare (Cavaleiro 65).

Burgoyne, Miranda, Goncalves, Buur.

Nordfeldt, Roberts, Fernandez (Ayew 56), van der Hoorn, Bartley, Dyer, Fer, Renato Sanches (Carroll 34), Olsson, Routledge, Bony (Mesa 75).

Narsingh, Mulder, Fulton, McBurnie.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Anthony Taylor blew the final whistle, Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo explained.

'I am happy and pleased with the performance of the team. We were the better team on the pitch. We deserved to win. We created enough chances and played very good football. I agree with both situations on both red cards. We controlled the game, even with 10 men. Each time we had the same number of players we were better than them. I am sorry for the result not for the performance.'

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal in his comparative interview explained.

'Listen I don't have an opinion on the Wolves red card but my staff said it was a clear red. I didn't see it - but I saw our red card. It is a typical yellow card, a touch on the back of the player in the middle of the pitch. Instinctive. Everyone felt it was a yellow card. This is a situation I don't want to talk too much about, but that's two games in a row with bad decisions. I am very happy about my players. We had a clean sheet, the commitment was good.'
