Hoddle Closes On Spurs Striker

Reports are circulating that Glenn Hoddle is set to end Grzegorz Rasiak's short and unproductive stay at White Hart Lane with a £1.5m bid for his contract.

Rasiak was recently booed off the pitch by Spurs fans in his first start for 3 months against West Brom, and Hoddle is known to be a long time admirer of the Polish International.

Hoddle first thought he had his man back in August when Derby accepted a £2.2m bid from Wolves, only to get gazzumped by Spurs right at the very last moment.George Burley at Southamton and now Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth are also thought to be interested, but it would appear now Hoddle's attention has been diverted from Izale Mcleod , he intends to make sure of securing Rasiak's signature.

On the surface, it would seem to be a good piece of business. Having already bid £2.2m for the tall Pole once, securing him for almost a million pounds less isnt most peoples idea of a bad deal. However Rasiak hasnt set the Premiership alight since his move from Derby County.

Five starts in over 3 months with no goals to show hardly makes Rasiak a bankers bet to fire Wolves back into contention for promotion, but at Championship level Rasiak was good for 16 goals in 35 starts and that is the kind of firepower Hoddle is now in desperate need of. And with Germany '06 now just around the corner, Rasiak will be keen to start proving he's got what it takes to secure a World Cup squad place.
