Poachers Goal Opens Account

Poachers Goal Opens Account

Andy Keogh finally broke his Wanderers duck on Saturday, scrambling in Michael Kightly's parried shot for Wolves equalizer against Luton.

HIs first goal in 7 appearances could hardly have come at a better time after Wolves had contrived to throw away their lead against Mike Newell's league strugglers before half time.

It may not have been pretty, but poacher's goals rarely are. Talking to the club's official site he could hardly contain his joy at finally getting off the mark.

'It was great to get the goal,' he said.

'The ball broke nicely and I just managed to slide in and put it away. It was a good way to start my goalscoring for the club.'

Fighting back after going behind has not always been easy for Wolves, not even under Mick McCarthy, but when the two sides came out after the break, it was clear which side wanted the win the most.

'It was good to get the early goal in the second half and from there I always felt we could go on and win it.' Keogh said.

'I think the team showed brilliant character and everyone could see how much we loved getting back into the game after taking the lead and then falling behind.'
