Talking to Wolves World he said
'Its brilliant here. Just to be playing games, I love it'
Stefan has largely impressed since Glenn Hoddle gave him his chance. Initially, some saw him as another Wolves white elephant and questioned his position at the club if Hoddle was not going to play him. But then an unfortunate injury to Michael Oakes at Brighton gave him an opportunity, which he has certainly taken hold of with both hands. Prior to the Christmas period Wolves had conceded just 2 goals with Stefan on duty. That number now stands at 7, compared with 13 conceded in the 11 games before his tenure between the sticks.Stefan found it hard to mask his disappointment at the recent scorlines that have bucked the current trend
'The Christmas period has definitely been frustrating for us. It should've been a time for us to climb the table. I think the Reading game we didn't play well, but after that we had a fair run of games where we should've got 9 points, but instead we ended up with 4. I think we did really well, especially in the last 2 games, we attacked for the full 90 in both but we just didn't get the luck ,and conceded some silly goals'
Stefan's loan has now expired and when asked of his availability for the weekend's re run of Wolves last 2005 fixture he was realistic, but still hopeful that a new deal can be struck with Villa making it possible.
All season Glenn Hoddle's side has threatened to unleash a lesson in football on their next opponents, whoever they have been. But his side, that still has the potential to set the division alight, has more often than not failed to deliver anything other than intricate foreplay, that while promising heights of ecstasy, will ultimately never leave Wolves fans satisfied, unless there is a money shot. And its not only the fans that feel that way.
'You can see we are one of the best teams in the Coca-Cola League at the moment.' said Stefan
'We just need to get ourselves going a bit. I don't think we are giving anything away, so we really don't have to lose any games and that's the feeling i get every time I go out in the pitch.'
'We just need a game where, I think if we can break the deadlock and teams have to chase us then we can go on and win deservedly 4 or 5 nil. Its in the air all the time that we're going to win a game by a big margin but it hasn't happened yet, which is why we have to keep going, keep working.'
Stefan may be the player furthest from the front line action, but even from that distance the problem seems to be as abundantly clear to the players as it is to the fans.
' We're just not scoring enough goals to climb the table. We lost 2 games in what really isn't our style. I'm really confident that we can move up the table. Corty is coming back and maybe we can get in another striker and then we can look forward.'
Our thoughts exactly Stefan
