'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mick Blows Smoke

Mick McCarthy rarely goes over the top with his words of praise.

He's more likely to be found calling for calm and a level headed approach, even more so in these current heady Molineux days.

But following his sides 1-0 victory over local rivals West Brom on sunday he could not contain his appreciation for goalscoring hero Jay Bothroyd.

Bothroyd's 83rd minute strike was all that seperated the sides and McCarthy had nothing but admiration for the young striker.

'God bless Jay Bothroyd because he made the difference.'

'Their keeper made a wonderful save from Jay when he came on, and let's blow smoke up Jay's a**e for once.' he said after the match.

'He is a player who deserves praise for getting himself fitter because he is far better now.

'He has been fantastic in training and looked all week like he was going to be a good sub for us.

'He is knocking on the door and looks the part, but he has to do it week in, week out.'
