Henry Out

An injury has taken away one of Mick McCarthy's selection headaches ahead of his sides trip to the Ricoh Stadium on Tuesday night.

Stand in skipper Karl Henry has been ruled out following diagnosis of a bruisd spleen picked up in the 3-2 win away at Luton Town.

The bruising looks set to keep Karl, who has become something of a utility player for McCarthy out for quite some time, with the manager putting his players welfare as his top priority.

Any further aggravation of the injury could result in internal bleeding, leading to shock, and must be dealt with using extreme caution.

'Karl is going to be out of action for a few weeks,' McCarthy said.

'He was kneed in the ribs and scans have shown that he has a bruised spleen.

'He's lucky because it could have ruptured. It's a good job that we have these sort of scans that we know what's wrong.

'He will have to rest until another scan shows that it has cleared up.

'We have no history of these kind of injuries so it's difficult to know how long it will take. But I can tell you that he won't play whilst there is any risk to him.'
