Nerves OK With Mick

Nerves OK With Mick

Mick McCarthy has a lot to smile about.

Having assembled the majaroity of the current Wolves side on a shoestring budget, he has guided them to fourth in The Coca Cola Chamionship, an 8 match unbeaten run, and 6 wins on the bounce.

So it's hardly surprising that he is in the mood to praise his players ahead of their trip to Coventry following the teams win against against West Bromwich Albion.

With the promotion race as tight as it's ever been, it could be that the midlands sides still to play each other have a major part to play in each others eventual fate, food for Mick McCarthy's thoughts.

'We've talked all along about how the derby games could affect our season. We've just had the big one on Sunday, we've still got Birmingham, and tonight we've got Coventry too - it's going to be interesting.

'But when it comes to the pressure I don't think it's going to affect our players one bit.

'They're still exactly the same around the place and we are still preparing and approaching for games in exactly the same way.

'Maybe if we're 1-0 up in games it will get a bit nervy towards the end but that's only natural and if we're winning games I'll happily take things being nervy.

'I've only really been with this group of players for seven months so we'll have to see how they handle things but the position they have got us into is remarkable.'
