Defender Raring To Go

Left back Charlie Mulgrew may have spent his time on the sidelines wondering whose black cat he had unwittingly run over.

Following his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in November at St Andrews, he managed to turn his other ankle warming up for the Scotland U21 International against Germany in February.

Now back to full fitness, Mulgrw has spoken to the clubs official site about his injury picked up on international duty.

'It wasn't as bad as the first injury but it was really frustrating to get fit and then injured again before I'd kicked a ball in anger.' he said

Having now recovered, Mulgrew is looking to the return to action as soon as possible, which would give Mick McCarthy even more options in defence.

'This week I started full training again and now I just need to build up my match fitness.

Mick McCarthy has limited left sided options. The return of a fit Charlie Mulgrew will be yet another reason for the manager to smile.
