Captains Rollercoaster Season

Jody Craddock has had a something of a rollercoaster season so far.

Made club captain by Mick McCarthy, he then found himself an unlikely goalscoring hero, hitting the net four times before Christmas, bagging some crucial goals when they weren't exactly easy to come by for McCarthy's men.

ut following a niggling achilles injury, he has been forced to watch events unfold from the sidelines, something he admits he has found frustrating at times.

'It's difficult to watch because I want to play but I've got no complaints.' he said

'The boys are doing fantastically well and I'm not going to spit my dummy out or anything. I'm happy to be on the bench and while the boys are playing really well all I can do is train and play in the reserve games. That's all I can do. '

Mental fortitude will play as big a part in this seasons run in as physical strength, so positive leadership from the more experienced players in the dressing room will be important for Wolves young squad.

And Jody is keen to ensure his young charges keep focussed on the job in hand and not get carried away by recent successes.

I think the way to stay focused is to play just one game at a time.' he said

'You don't look at the big outcome. You don't say 'if we win the next five games we are gong to be on top of the table'. You look at the next game. That's the only way you can do it. It is the only way to keep a calm head without panicking. One game at a time and we will be all right.'

However this season turns out, it will have been a journey the man Henry Winter called 'the Monet of Molineux' remembers forever.

If he guides Wolverhampton Wanderers to promotion, it will be remembered by thousands of others too.
