Lescott : Promotion with Wolves

Labelled as a Premiership player in waiting, and with his name constantly linked to big Premiership teams, Joleon Lescott's future will definately be a bright one. But for the time being, all he dreams of, is dazzling in the Premiership wearing Old Gold and Black.

'It's definitely my ambition to play for Wolves in the Premiership,' he told The Express and Star. After missing the last campaign it's something I want to do more than ever, even more than before, so hopefully we can do it this season.

'At the time I didn't really understand that I'd missed the whole season, but then when we played Arsenal last season in the FA Cup I enjoyed it so much that I realised I could have been doing that every week.'

'Hopefully we'll be doing it every week next season and I'll be trying as hard as everyone else in the side to get promoted.'

Lescott missed Wolves only year in The Premiership following double knee surgery, and though automatic promotion is still the sides aim, progressing through the play offs wouldnt be a complete disaster.

'If it means going through the play-offs again I don't mind because I've got a lot of good memories about that,' said the 23 year old.

'There's quite a few members of that squad still here who really enjoyed it and a lot of the others have been promoted anyway so we can use that experience to carry everyone through.

Wolves ended their promotion year with a fantastic run of 10 wins and 8 draws, which they will probably have to match to achieve their goal this campaign.'

'We had a good run that season with a few wins on the bounce and hopefully we can do the same and get the results we want. he added.

Signing a new contract in November, an extension keeping him at the club until 2008, calmed fears his departure was imminent, there are always rumours hovering around a player frequently tipped to be a Premiership star, so for the moment at least, Jo's concentrating on one thing, and one thing alone.

'I'm more determined than ever to play Premiership football with Wolves.'

Something all Wolves fans know has to happen much, much sooner, rather than later.
