'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Transfer Latest

There are reports that having lost patience with MK Dons, Glenn Hoddle is now turning his attention to Liverpool's out of favour Neil Mellor.

Mellor has shown great promise at Anfield since breaking into the Liverpool team in the 2003-4 season, but has recently found himself well down the pecking order, after double knee surgery left.

Wolves arent the only side to show an interest, Vladimir Romanov's Hearts have also openly covetted Mellor, who has a solid all-round game, but whose real strength is in the air.

Glenn Hoddle could do a lot worse than add Mellor to his squad, but competition for his signature will be fierce, and against a man with extremely deep pockets. Antony Le Tallec is said to be another Liverpool target for Romanov, as well as Darren Potter and Francis Smith, both tipped as promising youngsters.

Elsewhere, reports say Matty Fryatt looks set for The Walkers Stadium, leaving Walsall for Leicester City, although all side are playing it very coy. Leicester Mananger Craig Levein said

"Matty Fryatt is one of the players we've been looking at but there's been no deal finalised,"

"I don't want to say anything more and when there's something to announce I'll let people know at that point."he added
