Transfer News : Mellor Talks OK'd

Neil Mellor's agent has comfirmed that he is set to hold talks with Hearts, and that a number of other clubs are chasing him as well. Speaking to Sky Sports Mick McGuire said

'Hearts are very interested in Neil I spoke to Rick Parry and Liverpool have given Neil permission to speak to Hearts about a potential move.'

'Neil is keeping an open mind on his future and he is happy to go up and talk to Hearts.'

'There has been interest from several other clubs and Neil is weighing up his options and he is not ruling out staying at Liverpool as he still has a contract there.' '

Mellor is one of a handful of players who use the PFA run Player Management Agency to handle contract negotiations, so any discussions should be conducted legitametly. Wolves are one of a trio of clubs,Stoke and Sheffield United the others, said to be watching in close attendance.

Prior to his injuries Neil Mellor looked quite a prospect, and his eye for goal is just what Glenn Hoddle's side need. But Wolves interest will be bound by simple economics, and their need to grab a multi buy at the sales may take Mellor out of their reach.
