'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Frankowski Latest

Reports in Spain suggest negotiations between Wolves and Elche regarding the future of Tomasz Frankowski may be making some headway.

Elche President Ramon Sanchez has long maintained that any chance of selling Frankowski was unthinkeable, stating

'We are not a selling club. With Frankowski, the club made an important economic investment'

But following strong pressure form Wolves representatives, his stance now seems a little less resloute

'It would be different if there were 3 or 4 million Euro's on the table, but there's not.' he told the Spanish press.

Wolves last offer is thought to be of 1.4 million euros, with additional payments plus an extra payment for promotion to the Premier League, but that negotiations for a new offer have now got under way

The man at the centre of all this is remaining tight lipped, perhaps understandeably since news of Wolves interest was leaked in his native press last week. His position remains that he is happy at Elche, but if the club decides to sell him, he would be happy to play in England.

But the man believed to hold the key to negotiations is Elche's coach, Yosu Uribe. It will ultimately be his opinion that decides if Elche cash in on Wolves offer, or keep their star player. His public stance has always been it is better for Frankowski to stay, but at the same time conceding. that everybody has their price.

There is a growing feeling in Spain, that it is only a matter of time before Frankowski is wearing old gold and black. But with an asking price starting at 2 million, Glenn Hoddle's coffers are going to be stretched to their very limit. Further funds could only be raised from selling players, and Kenny Miller's refusal of terms at Sheffield United may be the best chance Wolves get of substantial income in this particular transfer window.
