Preston North End are the latest team reported to show an interest in signing former Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Jansen.
Jansen became a free agent when by mutual agreement, he and Rovers tore up his contract.
Several Premiership sides are said to be offering short term contracts, but Billy Davies hopes to steal a march on the competition, by tabling a long term offer.
Jansen was once being considered for England, but has struggled to find first team football since he crashed his motorbike while on holiday in Italy during the summer of 2002
He missed the first five months of the next season and struggled to recapture his form, and after failing to break into the starting eleven the 28 year old cancelled his employment with Blackurn this week.
