No Confusion, No Deal

Milton Keynes Dons look to have overcooked their goose with Wolves over the sale of Izale Mcleod.

After telling Wolves their valuation was greater than Glenn Hoddle's and turning down their last bid, Dons Chairman has now said he accepts the offer on the table, and final details can be arranged.Theres only one problem. Wolves dont appear to want him anymore.

Glenn Hoddle was unimpressed by the gesture. He said

"I'm fed up of talking about McLeod because at the end of the day we put a bid in which they turned down," blasted Hoddle. "We've moved on now, and quite frankly have got other irons in the fire and haven't got the finances to do it.

"That's as honest as I can be - there was an offer put down on the table which they declined.

"It's all right for them to come back now and say 'we'll take that now' but we've moved on and gone down another road.

"If we go back to them and say here's an offer of x, y and z, and they take it, that's up to them. But the bottom line is what do they expect us to do? Wait and wait?

"We turned our attentions to other players and I'm hoping that we might get them in the next week or so. If we do then I'll be happy." Following Hoddle's statement Jez Moxey spoke to clarify the situation.

'There's no confusion,' Moxey said. 'The situation is just as Glenn described, we've moved on to other targets.'

Fairly final, and a bit of a rebuke for Dons chairman Pete Winkelman, who announced a £1.4million deal for the 21-year-old had already been agreed. But Jez does go on to say that the deal isnt necessarily dead.'Ten days or so down the line, Milton Keynes have come back to us and said they would like to accept our final offer but Glenn now has other irons in the fire - although we're always willing to talk.'

A statement will be issued before Friday night's kick off, which, given the tenacity Hoddle showed in tracking his man, and the length of the attempt to secure him. could well be to announce a new signing. With discussions nearing an outcome in Alicante, Jez might have quite a lot to talk about
