Elche : Offer Not Enough

Reports in Spain suggest Wolverhampton Wanderers have failed to come up with a financial package to snare Polish striker Tomasz Frankowski.

The decision to rebuff Wolves third offer was made after a meeting between a delegation from Wolves said to be headed up by Jez Moxey, and Elche President Ramon Sanchez, Director of Sport Patxi Iru, Vice President Jose Sepulcre and Elche coach Yosu Uribe.

Sepulcre is quoted as saying that Wolves offer was simply not enough to make him release the clubs top goalscorer, and centre pin of coach Josu Uribe's plans.

The Wolves bid thought to be in the region of 1.8 million Euros, with additional payments based on appearances and promotion fell short of Elche's 2 million Euro asking price.

He goes on to say that he now hopes that is the end of the matter, and Wolves end their interest in the player, allowing him to concentrate on Elche.

The news doesnt sound good, and with the current offer of 1.8million Euro being rejected, the cost of pursuing Frankowski further has to be questioned. If nothing else, it show the level of player Glenn Hoddle is looking to aquire on a budget.

Some will say that Wolves should have bid more for Frankowski, but Glenn Hoddle hasn't seen Wolves pay over the odds for any player since taking over, so why should he start now?

With Izale Mcleod seemingly Wolves for the taking, Hoddle must now step up his search for a more experienced forward.Unless Wolves up their bid tonight, he has 21 days left to find his man.
