President of Elche Ramon Sanchez has yet again re-itterated his position on the sale of Tomasz Frankowski, and once again, left the door open for a bigger Wolves bid.
Sanchez has called a halt to negotiations after Wolves last offer didnt reach Elche's valuation of the 31 year old Polish striker.
The Elche President has always said he doesnt wish to sell Frankowski, and any move would be purely down to economics.
It is thought Wolves have offered up to 1.8 million Euro, but Sanchez is adamant he wont sell for less than 2 million.
But now Sanchez fears that Wolves offer may have unsettled Frankowski, in particular the financial package offered to the player.
Wolves are said to have offered Frankowski a 20% increase in salary, which his advisors are very keen to take.
Sanchez has publicly stated that Elche have done everything within their power to ease Frankowski's move from Poland providing a car, a house and a translator, and feels let down that Frankowski should be keen to leave them, purely for financial reasons. The same reasons that would see Elche sell their star player to Wolves.
He first heard of interest in the Pole in mid December, and straight away said he was not for sale, but would listen to any offers. An odd stance to take if you have no intention of selling.
Since negotiations with Wolves first started he has clung to his 2 million Euro price, and it now looks like Wolves need to match it, or walk away.
'The offer went up to around the 1,7 million euros, an large amount, but it did not come near to the amounts that we had in mind '. Sanchez said yesterday.
Part of Sanchez bargaining motives may be found in the fact World Cup's can have a huge impact on a players worth, and he knows that if Frankowski performs in Germany, his stock may rise quite dramatically.
'Today a player is worth 3 million, later(after The World Cup)that can reach the 4 or 5 million euros'. he noted.
Whoever he is playing for at that time, Frankowski will leave for International duty in May, a crucial point in Elche's season, and Spanish sources think this may be Wolves card up their sleeve. Although publicly, Elche say they have that situation under control, and they are monitoring several players to be brought in as a replacement once he goes.
What is becoming clear, is that if Frankowki is unsettled, and making it clear he wishes to take Wolves offer, Sanchez knows he will have to let him go. Unhappy strikers don't tend to fire teams to promotion, and that above all else is Elche's aim this season
Sanchez left off yesterday, as he has every day, closing the door, but leaving it slightly ajar.
'You never say never. But if there is an interesting offer to the club, we must consider it. I do not want but if there is a tempting offer... ' aware that there is still a long way to go until February
All Wolves need now decide is whether their promotion push is worth an extra 200,000 Euro, and if Frankowski is the right man to lead it.
