Panic On The Streets Of Sandwell

Oh how they they laughed, bedecking the Molineux stronghold with Tesco carrier bags.

When Albion were granted the whole of the South Bank due to FA regulations governing away fan ticket allocation, Baggies supporters boinged themselves stupid over what they saw as a mighty coup, made even sweeter by the very public disgruntlement this caused Wanderers fans no matter where they sit in the stadium.

As the spectre of an all black country play off grew nearer, so did the Sandwell chuckles, looking forward to another afternoon taunting the Molineux faithful from their own end, sitting in THEIR seats.

But now those ripples of self satisfied laughter have turned to bitter bleating as Wolves CEO Jez Moxey has achieved his goal of protecting the South Bank stronghold on safety grounds, a move that has thwarted the Throstles hopes of nullifying Wolves homefield advantage.

According to press reports, West Brom have 'hit back' in a tit for tat move that sees Wolves given the same 10% ticket allocation as the Baggies for the return leg.

Funny, I thought that was the offer that had always been on the table had our black country cousins voluntarily agreed to a mutual reduction of away supporters?

If claiming it's been done as a retaliatory move is supposed to save face after being blatantly outsmarted, it has failed by the same measure as Albion claiming anything less than automatic promotion would be deemed acceptable this season.

No one will ever know if the work currently being carried out on The Molineux Hotel, whose scaffolding creates restricted access to Molineux Alley and The South Bank, and hence reason not to give a 15% ticket allocation to the Baggies was started, knowing full well the ramifications for the play offs.

Regardless, it's been mission accomplished, and no matter how it was achieved, it's a job well done.

Protecting Wolves fans interests whilst at the same time winding up Baggies supporters?

A good days work in anyones book.

What mind games? Do you think any other club would gladly give up a whole end of their stadium in the same circumstances? All we have done is look after our own like any other club would.

Molineux FA Cup tie atmosphere 2007 v Molineux League fixture atmosphere? Anybody who attended those matches will tell you that the '12th' man had a tremendous part to play in both those games. The South Bank will belong to those to who it belongs this sunday afternoon!
