Glenn Hoddles presence at East End Park yesterday for Hearts 4-1 win over over Dunfermline was never going to go unnoticed.
True, as Hearts manager Graham Rix points out, the two have known each other for some time.
'Glenn Hoddle is a good friend of mine and just wanted to see how I'm getting on,' Rix said of the visit.
But it is surely stretching belief to assume a high profile manager such as Hoddle, currently in search of new signings should choose to use a rare Saturday off to check on the wellbeing of a former Chelsea colleague?
Rix' statement was made in the light of speculation Hoddle was at East End Park to monitor Paul Hartley, whom Hearts have always maintained will not be sold.
So what else might have drawn Hoddle to Midlothian on his day off?
One name emerging is Czech striker Michal Pospisil. Hearts signed the 26 year old from FC Slovan Liberec on a three year deal in July 2005, for just over £300,000.
Well respected in his homeland, Popsil is an effective, aggressive striker, particularly strong in the air, and fits Hoddle's requirement well.
He has Champions League experience, appearing for Sparta Prague, and a track record of goals at every level he has played at. Three years ago he was a member of the exciting side that defeated France 3-1 on penalties in the final of the European U21 Championship.
Whatever the motives for Hoddle's scottish trip, and there could be quite a few, it will only serve to fan the flames of speculation surrounding Wolves transfer targets, that will surely continue until a new signing is unveiled.
Exactly when that will be, is the question on every Wolves fans lips
