As reported on Vital Wolves yesterday, Glenn Hoddle has confirmed that he won't stand in Colin Cameron's way if he gets the right offer from the right club.
The news was greeted with a mixed repsonse from fans sad to see a player always fully committed to the cause leave.
Some fans feel the club are being disloyal to the player with over 150 games for Wolves under his belt.
Others are seeing it a natural process, unfortunate, but inevetable as Glenn Hoddle starts to build his team for the future in earnest.
News of the arrangement was first aired by Cameron's agent, perhaps hoping to raise his clients profile, and his situation, to potential new clubs.
But as Glenn Hoddle explained to Wolves official site, it's not a case of Mickey being shown the door, more allowing him to make the most of the January transfer window to secure first team football elsewhere.
'It's not a matter of us saying that we are releasing him. Colin's agent was letting people know he was out of contract at the end of this season and that prompted us to have a chat with him about his situation.' said Hoddle
'The outcome is that if the right club comes in for Colin, at this stage of his career it would be right for him to move on.'
But it's not set in stone that the Scots midfielder will leave in the next 2 weeks. The Wolves Boss would be more then happy to keep him until the end of the season.
But new arrivals and younger legs may mean his chances of first team football will be fairly limited from now on.
'If he ends up staying until the end of the season that's fine because he is a good pro. It's just that his opportunities here might be limited now we have Mark Davies, Denes Rosa and Rohan Ricketts in the squad.'
Good luck in the future Colin, just don't come back to haunt us, eh?
