Sanchez : Franek Deal Not Dead
It's the story that just won't die.
Once again, Ramon Sanchez, President of Elche CF has half opened the door for Wolves to get their man.
Sanchez was talking to the Spanish media regarding Elche's interest in Pablo Amo.
Amo, a long term target of Elche's has a remarkable €64,1 million buy out clause in his contract. But Deportivo la Corunia are ready to let him go after he has failed to make an impact in their side.
'The negotiations very are advanced and we hope to close them this week' said Sanchez
And then went on to say that he still hadn't discarded the possibility of Frankowski leaving.
Elche still harbour concerns over the timing of this years World Cup that would see Frankowski unnavailable for the end of their season.
The club is also unhappy Franek let it be known his wife is not settled in Spain, and his leaking news of a Wolves approach to the Polish media.
For his part, Frankowski maintains the decision is out of his hands. Having signed a 3 year contract mid '05 he says he is commited to the club, but if Elche wish to sell him, he will leave.
So the call is back with Wolves. Do they up their offer? Or has Jez Moxey finally tired of Sanchez posturing, holding out for his extra €200,000?
The clock is ticking down, and the decision will have to be made soon. Do we raise, or do we fold?
For the money, Frankowski still looks a good punt. But its Glenn Hoddle and Jez Moxey doing the gambling. And for Wolves the stakes are much higher than than the club has known for some time.
