'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ward Strikes Positive Note

Stephen Ward's return to Bohemians may not have quite been triumphant.

But his second half header was enough to earn Wolves a well deserved draw.

With better finishing it was a match Wolves could have easily won, but Boh's fans may argue the same in a match played in horrendous conditions.

Talking to the clubs official site Ward expressed his happiness at finding the net against his former side, and became yet another player to state his willingness to play wherever selected, as long as it means minutes on the pitch.

"I was delighted to have scored."

'It was a good ball over from Andy (Keogh) and I was in the right place at the back stick to get the header in.' he said.

'I have played wide and in a central striking position while we have been over in Ireland but, with the quality we have in the squad and the competition there is going to be for places, I'm happy to play anywhere.'

Competition for places, players happy to play where chosen to and a positive pre season mindset.

Is this really Wolverhampton Wanderers?

The refreshing and invigorating thing for me is the willingness of these young players to put their hands up and say they’ll play anywhere, and they can do it as well. Ward may be the one who struggles a bit this year but he will make a brilliant utility player, he has the ability and the desire, as do most of the others. That’s where McIndoe let himself down as far as I’m concerned, a good player when he wanted to be but lacking the passion.
