'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Further Strengthening

Mick McCarthy has pulled off yet another transfer coup, this time signing defender Michael Gray on a 12 month contract under the Bosman ruling.

32 year old Gray will further bolster McCarthy's back line providing extra cover in the left back slot seen by many as a potential area of weakness for this season.

Speaking to the clubs official site Gray revealed Mick McCarthy's personal interest was a major factor in his move to Molineux.

'As soon as I'd finished at Blackburn he(Mick McCarthy) was the first to call me up about my situation and he asked me to keep him informed.' he said.

'It's nice to hear from a manager who really wants you and when he calls and tells you that then you know it's there for you.'

Some may argue that at 32, Gray hardly fits the current young and hungry ethic at Wolves, but Mick McCarthy believes that his experience combined with his desire to succeed will be invaluable in the coming campaign.

Another good day at the office Mick.

Yes... a canny signing by Mr McCarthy!

seems to solve the left back conundrum so has to be good news - he's bound to be better than Clapham.
