Wolves v Bradford. The History

It was back in February of 1906 that Wolves and Bradford first locked horns. This game came in the second round of the FA Cup and Bradford strolled past Wolves with an easy 5-0 win.
Later that year the clubs met in a league game for the first time, Wolves made the trip to Yorkshire and came home with all the points in a 3-2 victory, a hat-trick from J Roberts won the day for Wolves in front of 14,000 fans. The beginning of 1907 saw the first ever Wolves Bradford game to be played at Molineux. J Jones scoring Wolves goal in a 1-1 draw.
In the 1907/08 season Bradford claimed a 0-0 at Molineux and later that season won 6-2 at home as they stormed to the 2nd Division title

The following three meetings all came in the FA Cup, 1908 saw Wolves claim their first home win over Bradford thanks to a G Hedley goal. This was in a 1st round replay after a 1-1 draw in Bradford. This was the year that Wolves won the FA Cup, beating Newcastle in the Final 3-1. Bradford gained small revenge 5 years later when they won a 2nd round tie 3-0 at home.

Between 1920 and 1930 Wolves and Bradford did battle 10 times in the league. It was on Christmas Day in 1926 that Wolves claimed their biggest win. A thumping 7-2 victory at Molineux in front of 10,421 fans. T Phillipson grabbed 5 of the goals as Wolves ran riot T Bowen and W Weaver added the other goals. Just 2 days later Wolves made the trip to Bradford and completed a quick fire double, winning 2-1. Phillipson added another goal and H Lees claimed the other.

Other results that stand out include the 1930 6-0 win for Wolves. Deacon 2, Hartsill 2, Hetheringon and Marson scoring in the destruction of Bradford City.

In 1988 Wolves faced Bradford for the first time in 56 years. An FA Cup tie saw Bradford claim a 2-1 win to progress to the 4th round. A year and half later and it was back to league, 1-1 draws home and away.

In May 1999, Bradford came to Molineux for the final game of season, Bradford were going for automatic promotion to the Premier League and Wolves were hoping to claim a play off spot. Goals from Havard Flo and Paul Simpson were not enough for Wolves as Bradford scored 3 times to earn themselves a place in the Premier League.

Two seasons later and Bradford were back and Wolves were still stuck in the same old division. An Adam Proudlock hat-trick at the Valley and two Dean Sturridge goals and a strike from Shaun Newton secured a 3-1 win at Molineux as Wolves did the double.

The last time Bradford came to Molineux they claimed a shock 2-1 over the Christmas period of 2002. George Ndah had levelled the game but Bradford went on to win 2-1.
