'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wolves Youngster Shines

The Republic of Ireland U21's were held to a 2-2 draw by a strong Germany side this evening in a friendly match in Furth.

Germany took the lead in the 17th minute, but Stephen Gleeson equalised 5 minutes before half time, then put the visitors ahead on 70 minutes.

Ireland held out until the 85th minute when Andreas Beck earned the hosts a draw.

Gleeson was one of two Irish players involved who have earned full caps, and his performance will bound to have impressed manager Don Givens a fortnight ahead of Ireland's opening UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier against Portugal on Friday, September 7th.
