Multi Ball Madness

Multi Ball Madness

Mick McCarthy has called a stop to the use of the multi ball system of play at Molineux.

The move comes after 3/4 of the referees to officiating at Wolves home games this season stopped the contraversial system.

'I wanted to use the system because it helps maintain a high tempo to the game, which suits the way we play. But I've now come to the conclusion that it is more trouble than it's worth if it's going to be halted during games.' he told the clubs official site.

Using multiple balls to maintain a high tempo in games has come in for much critisism, mainly from away fans noting that balls can mysteriously disappear at times when home teams may wish to slow the play down.

McCarthy was at pains to point out Wolves would not withdraw balls during a game when the scheme was first adopted, but didn't count on referees taking that decision for him!

As they say, it's a funny old game
