New signing Tomasz Frankowski is used to proving people wrong.
First they said he wouldn't score for Kracow in Poland. They said the same when he moved to Spain, and he silenced all the critics on both counts the only way a true striker can. With his boots.
In his first in depth interview for the Evening Mail he opens up on what he hopes to achieve at Wolves, and how he aims to repay Glenn Hoddle's faith in him, by firing Wolves to The Premiership.
'Promotion to the Premiership, which is the aim, would be a massive achievement for Wolves especially from a financial point of view,' said Frankowski.
Some people have doubted the Pole's credentials, something he is only too aware of.
'Their decision to sign me could be considered a risk, but I am hoping that risk will pay off several times over if we do achieve promotion.' he adds
Tomasz transfer was a long drawn out affair that to those on the outside looked like a deal that would never happen.
But Franek never had any doubt that Wolves would match Elche's valuation of him.
'Wolves first offered £700,000 but I believed from the beginning they would offer more even though there was nothing for me to discuss until they offered the £1.4million.' he said.
Frankowski flew into England last week and was whisked to Wolverhampton for a tour of Wolves top class facilities. And it appears that its not just the Wolves fans that are impressed by the club's bricks and mortar.
Frankowski goes on to say
'When I came over last week for two days, saw the beautiful newly-built training ground and spoke to Glenn Hoddle. There was never any doubt where I wanted to go.'
Glenn Hoddle has signed Frankowski to achieve what only one previous manager has ever done. Get Wolves into The Premiership.
And its a goal firmly fixed at the front of Franek's mind
'The objective is clear - with my help Wolves want to reach the Premiership.
'We want to get into the play-offs and we want to win them.' he says
He is also aware of the teams recent shortcomings, espescially those in front of goals As he points out :
'The team is playing very well at the moment and all we are lacking is goals, that's why they've bought me.'
'I've been in decent form and am sure that four months playing on this platform will stand me in good stead going into the World Cup,' he added.
And just to assure the fans anxious to see that first Frankowski net buster he goes on to say.
'I haven't forgotten how to score, I'm an optimist and all I need to do is stay fit.'
Some people expressed doubts over Franek's fitness with him missing most of Elche's christmas schedule. But as he explains. Not only is he fit and raring to go, he also has no fears about the physical rigours of the English game
'Lately I've had problems with pulled muscles and didn't train for a few weeks.
'I played half a game with Elche so I'm not at my best just yet but two weeks of training should help me.
'And I've got no qualms about the physical side.
'When I was moving to Spain there were suggestions I wouldn't cope with the football there and the same was said when I first went to Wisla Krakow in Poland.
'I have always proved the doubters wrong and the most important thing is scoring goals.'
And Vital Wolves can't wait to see you do it Tomasz!!
Franek, Franek, Lowca Bramek!!!
