Wolves Win To Move Up To Fourth

Wolves were made to work very hard for it, but thanks to Stephen Elliot's header they were able to claim a 1-0 win over Colchester on Wednesday night.

Wayne Hennessey had to save from Kevin Lisbie and Mark Yeates, but was beaten by Johnnie Jackson's free kick but to his relief the ball came back of the post, then against the run of play Elliott scored what proved to be the winner just after the half hour mark as he followed up to head home after Freddie Eastwood's header was saved.

Manager Mick McCarthy admitted that Wolves were not at their best, but he was delighted to win anyway: "We've played great at times this season and got nothing. Tonight we played lousy and won. So am I happy? Yes!

"We got away with murder but let's give Colchester some credit. They never let us get a tempo going and had some players that caused us problems.

"But we won the game, Stephen Elliott scored and we kept a clean sheet."

This win sees Wolves up to fourth in the Championship table, four points behind West Brom who currently occupy the second automatic promotion place behind leaders Watford.
