'If It's Football, It's Vital'

CEO Cautious As Clubs Leak Deals

In a bizarre twist, Wolves CEO Jez Moxey has issued a statement informing fans that contrary to earlier reports, the signing of David Edwards and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have yet to be formally sealed.

Speaking to the clubs official site he said :

'We have agreed a fee with Plymouth for Sylvan. But they have released the news of the deal ahead of it being completed. I have to emphasise that the player has not yet signed for us.

Hopefully, the transfer will be finalised overnight.

'Likewise, we have agreed terms with the administrators at Luton Town for David Edwards but, once again, the player has not yet signed.

'It never ceases to amaze me that clubs announce things publicly before deals have actually been completed.'

Really? With free-spending QPR out there willing to spend big to get their man? Or Leicetser City, whose boss Ian Holloway knows SEB's strengths only two well?

In both cases, the clubs losing a player have good reason to publicise the fact that their hand has been forced to release someone they value far more than they will be recieving.

Luton out of necessity, and Plymouth out of frustration.

This couldn't possibly the actions of two disgruntled chairman trying to start a last minute auction now that it is clear they have no choice but to sell a valued asset, could it?

Or am I just being cynical?
