Luton Town vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Kenilworth Road

Wolves Aiming For Five

Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Kenilworth Road on the back of their 4th straight win against Leeds United to take on another team struggling at the foot of the table, Luton Town.

Vital Quotes:

"We have achieved a nice little run to get us in a position and that is something. But at the end of the season, if we`re not in the play-offs nobody`s going to look back and think 'what an achievement`. We want to be able to look back and think that run got us into the play-offs.' - Mick McCarthy

Luton Town Team News:

Mike Newell can call on the services of Richard Langley and Sol Davis, both returning after suspensions, and may choose to blood Clarke Carlisle, on loan from Watford for the visit of Wolves today.

Warren Feeney is back in contention after returning in Luton's midweek defeat to Norwich, but Chris Coyne,Paul Underwood, Sam Parkin and Ahmet Brkovic all look set to miss out.

Player to watch: David Bell

Luton's most consistent player.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News:

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is forced into changing his winning side due to the suspension of Darren Potter for accumulating 5 yellow cards. After impressing midweek in a friendly against Mansfield Town, Mark Davies didn't travel with the squad due to illness, and it is unlikely he will play a part today.

Gary Breen and Jody Craddock both came through the same match unscathed and put up a good case for selection, but Lewis Gobern is out with a hamstring injury, as is Irishman Kevin O'Connor.

They join Charlie Mulgrew and long term absentees Michael Oakes, Carl Ikeme, Carl Cort, Craig Davies, Daniel Jones and Gabor Gyepes in the treatment room.

McCarthy's selection dilema is whether to break up the tight back four by moving stand in captain and right back Karl Henry back into midfield, or to tinker with his marauding midfield, possib;y changing Seyi Olofinjana's role against a team 1 point off the relegation zone, and with a 15 goal defecit.

In contrast, Wolves have kept more clean sheets than any of their promotion rivals, and have amassed 16 points from the last 6 matches, and are one of the form teams at the moment.

Player to watch: Michael Kightly

In form and on-fire. Wolves wing wonder is showing why the likes of Man Utd and Vill covet him. If Luton give him any space at all today, pound to a penny he will either turn provider or find the net himself

Match Facts & Stats

The first meeting of the two teams was in the 1931/ FA Cup Final, with Major Frank Buckley's side running out 2-1 winners.

The last time Wolves lost to Luton was 13 years ago, going down 2-1 at Molineux to a team that finished2 points off the drop so any thoughts of complacency against Newell's strugglers is unthinkable.

Overall, there is one win between the teams over the years with Wolves just shading it with 13 to Luton's 12, and 5 matches ending all square.

Ref Watch:

Paul Taylor (Herts) Paul Taylor definateky hurts. Previous comments regardinghis performance include. "Any referee who has more touches of the ball than some of the players ought to question his positioning. He also blocked off players(from both sides) getting to the ball on at least half a dozens occasions." and "Any team with this ref will either have the game won for them or the other team." And those are a couple of the more polite ones

Next up it's the big one, the Black Country Derby against West Brom!!!
